About a Fucked Up Society
why is no one doing anything about it right now?
I’m sad to announce that the cover picture is brought to you by Gemini Nano Banana AI ’-’
I can’t help but watch all the things I care about being outraged and destroyed by harmful ideologies. Can’t they just leave us alone?
Honestly, if they’re going to come at us with ideals of equality and tolerance, the least they could do is apply it “consistently.” That’s what pushes me over the edge: the lack of coherence and the abundant excess of hatred. I deeply regret this scenario—we had the opportunity to do things right, to truly build a better society. Oh but here we are :D, what do we get in return; division, hatred, and resentment T_T.
And I would love to dive into the details of how we ended up here, a task of such titanic scale, since the factors are multiple, rooted in part to the excesses and abuses of our ancestors. But that’s not the point—is it really productive, at this stage, after those old farts have been lying inert in their graves, to seek culprits and punish? Did we lose the script and forget our priorities?
It’s infuriating to scroll through social media and get bombarded with garbage of poor quality, so much so that good news is now the exception and celebrated with good reason. The problem is the unease and paralysis it generates in people. People discouraged and unwilling to improve, who in part have a point, but this only adds to the chronicles of a disastrous end coming our way: A prophecy that fulfills itself.
I think what many content creators are doing should be considered a crime. They profit off the anguish they generate, they throw the most hopeless headlines at you just to scrape up views, leaving people paralyzed, resigned, and paranoid in the comments. There’s no clear plan on their part, nor do they use their platform to coordinate efforts to protect our interests—there’s just blatant profit from watching the world burn in black flames while they cash the AdSense check (please, I want to be wrong about this last part ;-;).
That’s why I respect Louis Rossmann and his epic crusades in the name of the Right to Repair, a perfect example of what should be done. He doesn’t just tackle difficult topics that generate a strong emotional response, but he’s also contributing with the FULU Foundation and the Consumer Rights Wiki. At least something concrete is being done using his platform to organize people and promote change, and I applaud him for that.
